Pack less:

Make sure to use no-fee bank cards:

Don’t give banks your hard-earned money. Keep that for yourself and spend it on your travels. Get a credit card and debit card that doesn’t charge a foreign transaction fee or an ATM fee. Over the course of a long trip, the few dollars they take every time will really add up!

Don’t be afraid to use a map:

Looking like a tourist isn’t as bad as getting really lost and ending up in the wrong neighborhood. Don’t be afraid to use a map or ask for directions and look like a tourist. After all, you are one! I always use a map when I travel. It helps you get to where you need to go!

Make extra copies of your passport and important documents:

Don’t forget to e-mail a copy to yourself too. You never know when you might need to have some sort of documentation with you and might not want to carry your original. Additionally, if your passport gets stolen having a copy will come in handy for your police report.

SRI LANKA

Sri Lanka is an island in the Indian Ocean off the southeast tip of India, with tropical and warm climate. It`s a country packed with beautiful beaches, high mountains (over 2000 m), tropical forest and lots of wild animals like elephants, leopards, sea turtles, dolphins and whales.
The island is encircled by beaches, and from space, it actually looks outlined in white! Pretty cool! You can rarely travel anywhere along the coast without bumping upon a stunning stretch of sand, and many of them deserted! Sri Lanka is great for water sport like diving, snorkeling, kiting and surfing. Inland you can stretch your legs taking hikes among tea plantations high up in the mountains above 2000 m.

Food and festivals:

Dishes include rice and curry, pittu, kiribath, wholemeal roti, string hoppers, wattalapam (a rich pudding of Malay origin made of coconut milk, jaggery, cashew nuts, eggs, and spices including cinnamon and nutmeg), kottu, and hoppers. Jackfruit may sometimes replace rice. Traditionally food is served on a plantain leaf or lotus leaf.
Fire-dances, whip-dances, Kandian dances and various other cultural dances are integral parts of the festival.

Colombo
Capital of Sri Lanka

Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, has a long history as a port on ancient east-west trade routes, ruled successively by the Portuguese, Dutch and British. That heritage is reflected in its its architecture, mixing colonial buildings with high-rises and shopping malls. The imposing Colombo National Museum, dedicated to Sri Lankan history, borders sprawling Viharamahadevi Park and its giant Buddha.
The vibrant, jam-packed Pettah bazaar district's thousands of vendors offer everything from spices and tea to textiles and jewelry. Galle Face Green is an oceanside promenade popular for picnicking and strolling.
Mosque and the historic Dutch Reformed Wolvendaal Church to the Buddhist Gangaramaya Temple complex. International matches of cricket, Sri Lanka's national passion, are played at Premadasa Stadium. The city is also a major hopping-off point for beaches in the island nation's south.

ALL ABOUT -PHUKET

Phuket, a rainforested, mountainous island in the Andaman Sea, has some of Thailand’s most popular beaches, mainly situated along the clear waters of the western shore. The island is home to many high-end seaside resorts, spas and restaurants.

What to Do in Phuket?

There are many reasons to visit Phuket Thailand beyond the popular beaches, Wat Chalong, the Big Buddha, Phang Nga Bay, James Bond island and the old streets of Phuket town. The island is relatively small and easy to explore, most attractions are just a short tuk-tuk ride from your hotel. If this is not enough, a short boat ride will take you to Phi Phi island and Similan Island.

The Beaches!

Travellers from around the world come to enjoy the amazing white sand beaches and legendary turquoise blue water of this beach resort destination. There are more than 40 beaches here, mostly on the west coast, and despite the belief that Phuket is crowded, most are hidden and peaceful.
The popular beaches are mostly in the south of the island and Patong beach, Kata beach and Karon beach can be bustling during high season, but the north is superb and still untouched. Take the time to discover Naithon, Nai Yang and Mai Khao beaches, near Phuket International airport.

Phuket Shopping!

Phuket shopping scene is vast, cheap and surprisingly fun. With so many night markets, anyone can find something to take back home. Most popular are the Naka Market and the Sunday Walking Street Market, both in Phuket Town. Street shopping is also everywhere around the island.
Don't forget to bargain hard! For a more sophisticated shopping experience, there are now no less than 3 huge shopping malls to explore: Jungceylon and Central in Patong Beach, and Central Festival in Phuket Town.

Enjoy & play with Elephants !

There are now at least 4 or 5 elephant sanctuaries in Phuket, and these new places are great to interact with elephants in an ethical and fun way.
  • Learn about the sanctuary mission
  • Prepare food
  • Feed the elephants
  • Prepare medicine
  • Have a mud bath
  • Shower the elephants

 Scuba Diving in Phuket!

Phuket is also known for its scuba diving among coral reefs, its Gibbon Rehabilitation Project and the neighboring islets of Phang Nga Bay, which have dramatic, towering limestone cliffs and caves. Other attractions include the Wat Chalong Buddhist temple complex and the Phuket Big Buddha statue.

KERALA - GOD'S OWN COUNTRY

Kerala, a state situated on the tropical Malabar Coast of southwestern India, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country. Named as one of the ten paradises of the world by National Geographic TravelerKerala is famous especially for its ecotourism initiatives and beautiful backwaters. Its unique culture and traditions, coupled with its varied demography, have made Kerala one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Growing at a rate of 13.31%, the tourism industry is a major contributor to the state's economy.

The state's tourism agenda promotes ecologically sustained tourism, which focuses on the local culture, wilderness adventures, volunteering and personal growth of the local population. Efforts are taken to minimise the adverse effects of traditional tourism on the natural environment, and enhance the cultural integrity of local people.
The backwaters in Kerala are a chain of brackish lagoons and lakes lying parallel to the Arabian Sea coast (known as the Malabar Coast). Houseboat or Kettuvallam rides in the backwaters are a major tourist attraction. Backwater tourism is centered mostly around of Kerala like Alleppey,Kumarakom, Ashtamudi Lake, Kollam and Bekal. Boat races held during festival seasons are also a major tourist attraction in the backwater regions.
Flanked on the western coast by the Arabian Sea, Kerala has a long coastline of 580 km (360 mi); all of which is virtually dotted with sandy beaches.
ALAPPUZHA:
Referred to as the Venice of the East, Alappuzha has always enjoyed an important place in the maritime history of Kerala. Today, it is famous for its boat races, backwater holidays, beaches, marine products and coir industry. Alappuzha Beach is a popular picnic spot.

MUNNAR:
The rolling hills around Munnar, South India's largest tea-growing region, are carpeted in emerald-green tea plantations, contoured, clipped and sculpted like ornamental hedges. The low Western Ghats scenery is magnificent – you’re often up above the clouds watching veils of mist clinging to mountaintops. Munnar itself is a scruffy, traffic-clogged administration hub, not unlike a North Indian hill station, but wander just a few kilometres out and you'll be engulfed in a sea of a thousand shades of green.
